Our Nantzu Apartment, 1999:
We really had no clue what we would be living in when we signed on to become English teachers
in Taiwan. A million different accomodations, some decent, some frightening, ran through my mind
before we actually landed in Kaohsiung and made the 30 minute drive from the airport to our new
apartment. We were pleasently surprised. It was small, only a bachelor's apartment, but it was super clean and had
all the necessities: a working air conditioner, cable television, and a western (rather than traditional "squat")
toilet.
